Welcome to my website!
I am a PhD student in the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford, based at The Queen's College. I also work as a Research Assistant at the Nuffield Politics Research Centre.
My research focuses on the behaviour of political elites, particularly elected representatives. In the first paper of my doctoral thesis, I investigate how increased transparency affects legislators’ extra-parliamentary behaviour. More broadly, I am interested in questions of legislative behaviour, transparency and accountability, political careers, party structures and effects, revolving door dynamics, and German and EU politics.

I recently pubished a paper in the Journal of Legislative Studies in which I analyse the constituency-level predictors of moonlighting in the Bundestag. One of the main findings is that politicians from economically competitive constituencies generate higher private sector side incomes, particularly if they were born in that constituency. You can access a read-only version here.
I graduated at the top of my class from the London School of Economics and Political Science (MSc in European and International Public Policy) and hold a BA in Political Science and Public Law from Heidelberg University. [You can find my CV here.]
As a quantitative researcher, I primarily use econometrics to test my hypotheses and am currently building my expertise in causal inference to integrate these methods into my work. I have previously worked as a research and teaching assistant at several academic institutions, including the Institute of Political Science at Heidelberg University and the Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research. During the ‘gap’ year between my Master’s and PhD, I gained professional experience as a lobbyist at a Berlin-based political consultancy.
If you are applying for graduate or postgraduate studies, I am happy to offer advice within my capacity. As a first-generation academic, I am particularly committed to supporting underrepresented groups in accessing higher education. If you would like to reach out for this or any other reason, the best way to contact me is via email.
